Inspired by the iconography of a sacred, burning heart ~ a fire of love.
A hand-carved and sculpted frame heart and stylized flames. Cast in recycled sterling silver with an antiqued patina and 24 k gold highlights, set with found image ephemera - an angel in stained glass by William Morris & Edward Burne-Jones- under iridescent glass.
Backed with antiqued and painted birch bark with a pyrography feather detail. (sealed for preservation, but please keep dry) Adorned with a garnet teardrop bead.
This sacred heart amulet measures @ 1 1/8 inches at widest, @ 2 1/4 inches long and hangs on an 18-inch oxidized sterling silver chain. Can be worn shorter.
(24 k gold foil was applied to the crown/flames with the ancient technique of keum boo.)
